Interdisciplinary theme learning Academic year 2019-2020
From Jan 14 to Jan 15, we started the interdisciplinary theme learning week for P1 to P3.
This year’s learning theme was, “Happy birthday to CCS” and letting students use the concept of green living for our school’s birthday celebrations. We adopted “exploration in 4 steps”:
Discover the problem, analyze & organize, collect information and act, allowing students to learn and cultivate the practice of green living.

P1 Make your own musical Use “singing” birthday songs as a theme
Instrument & celebrate birthdays and make your own instruments based on eco-friendly principles and materials. Play these instruments to accompany the singing of birthday songs. Incorporate the concepts of cherishing and reusing resources into the school’s anniversary celebrations.
P2 Game stalls Using “students’ favorite toys” as a theme,
explore how to reuse objects and make toys for everyday use or celebrations. Incorporate the concepts of cherishing and reusing resources into the school’s Open Day games.
P3 School Anniversary Making eco-friendly costumes for the
Catwalk catwalk. Explore reusing everyday items to make creative party clothes & accessories. Incorporate the concepts of cherishing and reusing resources in the catwalk show.

Lunch scavengers
We encourage students to cherish food, only take suitable portions for lunch and reward students who finish all their food and waste nothing. A total of 634 people at school met these standards (89.4%).

“No plastics” recess
To help students use less plastic, teachers first explain how plastics harm the environment and share tips on not using plastics in everyday life. Students are invited students to participate in this
“No plastics recess” and bring healthy snacks without using plastic. A total of 607 people at school met this standard (85.6%).
