1. Violin
Liu Yung
Liu started learning violin from the age of 6. He graduated from the HK Baptist University, with a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in music. He was on the
“Dean’s list” 5 times and represented school to perform or record overseas.
In 2017, he was awarded the 3rd prize of Prix de Rome, international music competition.
He was also chosen for the Asian Youth Orchestra, performed in various music festivals like the US Far East music festival and with local orchestras. He has taught at local primary, secondary schools, music centers and conducted various orchestras.

2. Cello
Chan Ji Hong
Chan graduated with an advanced study diploma from the HK Academy of Performing Arts, studying under Tan Cong. At school, he received the Chow Sang Sang & HSBC exchange scholarship. He currently holds the advanced performance diploma (LTCL) from Trinity College and grade 8 music theory certificate from the Royal Music College.
Chan has performed in Malaysia, Shanghai, Hainan, Guangzhou with various orchestras.
In 2011, 2012 and 2017, he was with a large-scale spring festival performance in Hainan.
He also worked with TV drama series production and music recording, as well as recording “Songs from China” with Sandra Ng, soprano. Chan currently teaches cello in various secondary and primary schools. He also conducts in school orchestras.

3. String orchestra
Liao Wai Ming
Liu graduated from the music faculty of Taiwan Fu Jen University, majoring in violin.
He has performed in the Taipei National Concert Hall with various orchestras like the
Fu Jen University orchestra, Yinqi symphony orchestra, Formosa Singers, etc.
Back in HK, Liu actively teaches at Tung Wah Academy of Music, Tung Chung Catholic Secondary & Primary school, Ma Kam Chan Primary School, Shak Chung Shan Primary School, etc. He has also taught at various piano shops like Leomusic, Parklandmusic,
ArtCentre, etc.

4. Flute
Ms. Wu Di
Wu Di studied under famous teachers from young, with a master’s degree in music education and over 20 years of experience in teaching and performance. Currently she is an accordion instructor at the HK Education University, plays in accordion orchestra and trains teachers at various schools. She is also the founder of the HK Accordion & Vocal Education Company. Over the years, she has worked as a judge in various music competitions at local universities and accordion art competitions.

5. Saxophone
Mr. Ge Li
Ge Li graduated from the HK Academy of Performing Arts (APA) on full scholarship.
He was awarded the performance diploma, advanced study diploma (music), bachelor’s degree (Hons) & master’s degree (Hons) in music from the APA. Widely experienced in performance and teaching, he currently teaches at the APA. He has represented the HK Trade development council & the APA to visit and perform in many countries.
His solo performances have been well received.

6. Harmonica
Lee Sheung Ching
Winner of silver medal in German world harmonica duet competition, 1967

Founder of HK Harmonica St James youth orchestra
The orchestras conducted by Lee won the school group ensemble championship in the German World Harmonica festival in 2017, and the youth group ensemble championship at the 12th Beijing Asia Pacific Harmonica festival in 2018. In the same year, his students won the championship of chromatic solo competition (highest grade) at the Beijing Asia Pacific Harmonica festival and the 6th Seoul International Harmonica festival.

7. Accordion
Ms. Wu Di

Ms. Wong Nga Xi, Hsin Hsiao Ling Music World
She teaches guitar & ukulele at various primary & secondary schools, with many years of experience.

9. Erhu
Ms. Hsin Hsiao Ling, Hsin Hsiao Ling Music World
Ms. Hsin is a famous Huqin performer. She was selected as one of Ten Outstanding Young Persons. An honorary consultant at the HK Education Institute, she has taught at the music faculties of CUHK, HK Education Institute and HK Academy of Performing Arts.
(APA). In 1988, she graduated 1st place with distinguished results from the APA , and a bachelor’s degree in music from the Central Conservatory of Music. Dedicated to charity work, Ms. Hsin founded the Hua Xia Chinese Music Association in 2002.
She has organized over 500 various kinds of charity activities and was appointed by the LCSD as community cultural ambassador many times.

10. Liuqin
Ms. Chan Xi Tung, Hsin Hsiao Ling Music World
Ms. Chan is currently a 1st year master’s student in Chinese music at the Academy of Performing Arts (APA), studying “ruan” under Professor Lui K A. She was awarded the performance diploma (music) and Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in music (double majors in ruan and liuqin), awarded scholarship many times for outstanding performance.
In May & Dec 2014, she performed the “mountain rhyme”, a ruan concerto and “fisherman songs” of “Northern tribal life”, a liuqin concerto with the HK Chinese Orchestra. Both performances were well received. In 2015, Ms. Chan was awarded the gold prize in the professional youth A group, national Chinese music competition.

11. Guzheng
Ms. Lau Wen Min, Hsin Hsiao Ling Music World
Ma. Lau started teaching guzheng in 1994. In 1997, she worked full time at the Correctional services department staff club orchestra and taught guzheng at various famous schools. Her students have performed with outstanding results at the HK music festival, with many giving solo performances at school.
In 2004, she formed the HK Guzheng learning association.

12. Dizi
Ms. To Xue Qian, Hsin Hsiao Ling Music World
Ms. To has studied dizi (Chinese flute) for about 10 years. She started in primary school with teacher Hui WK, and then from sec 1 studied under Zhu WC, assistant principal player and Suen WC, principal player at the HK Chinese Orchestra.

13. Chinese percussion
Lee Wai Xi, Hsin Hsiao Ling Music World
Lee graduated from the HK Academy of performing arts (APA), majoring in Chinese percussion. He has been learning Chinese percussion since the age of 16, first with Chan LT of the HK Chinese orchestra (HKCO), then with Yan HM, former principal percussionist of HKCO, at the APA. He was a percussionist with the HK Youth Chinese Orchestra & the HK Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra, performing in Canada, Australia & USA.
Currently , Lee is with the HK Drum Ensemble and went for exchange at Shanxi, participated in HK Drum festival and future drum king competition with outstanding results. In 2015, he was awarded excellent results in grade 5 music theory from Royal college of music, and in 2016 grade 8 for piano.

Sandra Ng, Cadenza House – Center for children & youth art promotion
Sandra received her FTCL from the Trinity College of Music, UK, professional singing diploma (distinction) from Ecole Normal de Music de Paris.
She is the artistic consultant / judge for the HK Arts development council, chairperson of HK School Music teachers association, director of Cadenza House – Center for children & youth art promotion, founded in 1991. Sandra has performed singing in HK, China, Australia, Canada & Europe, including “French Chloral Works” & “Sandra Ng solo performance” sponsored by Alliance Francaise, “Songs from China” sponsored by CUHK & Jao Tsung-I Academy, HKUST lunchtime concerts & “Summer 2008 in Harbin”, one of the 3 big music festivals in China. Dedicated to music education, she was conductor for the HK School Principals choir and various secondary & primary school choirs, instructor of kindergarten music teachers, Zhu Hai UIC voice workshop, accountants choir, HKU alumni AA choral group, etc. Many of her students have received awards in the HK Music Festival.
Ms. Wong Mei Lin
Ms. Wong received her LTCL from the Trinity College of Music, studying with Jimmy Chan & Jiang Hua. She was instructor at the United Academy of Music and head of choir, instructor at Yip’s Children’s Choir and judge in singing competitions. She has led in singing as well as solo performances. A core member of the HK Oratorial Society, Wong has performed widely both locally and overseas.
